Last Wednesday, September 25, Elisse Joson joined one of Thailand’s leading skincare brands Cathy Doll as its newest Filipina ambassador.
The 23-year-old celebrity, shared her thoughts along with one of the brand’s executives when asked about why a lot of Filipino women want to have a whiter or fairer complexion.
“You know, for me, that’s a very sensitive issue to discuss. So I won’t be generalizing Filipinas. But I think it’s a matter of personal perspective. Or personal preference. So if you want to retain your natural or ‘yung kayumanggi na kulay, that’s okay. But if you want to attain or achieve a whiter complexion, there are products available in stores that can help you achieve that kind of tone that you want for your skin. So ayun, it’s a matter of personal preference,” one of the brand’s representatives said.
Elisse, who particularly endorses the brand’s whitening product Ready 2 White, agreed it’s all about personal preference.
“I agree with Ms. Jane. Personal preference lang din po. Siguro kung ano ‘yung nakikita, napapanood, na-aadapt ng mga tao. But siyempre, like what Mr. Wong said kanina, the Ready 2 White series, it doesn’t like tell you to get whiter skin. It only gives you that lighter and brighter complexion. But also, keeping your natural tone. So ayun ang okay sa Ready 2 White. ‘Di naman kailangan maputi,” she said.
Meanwhile, Elisse shared her thoughts on people making a big deal out of one’s skin complexion preference. She likewise urged everyone to stop judging people who want to have fairer and whiter skin.
“Since ayun nga I think it’s personal preference, kanya-kanya namang gusto ‘yan eh. Kung saan nafi-feel ng tao na mas confident siya, mas maganda siya. I don’t think anyone should say anything about it. Kasi for me, the color of the skin shouldn’t define if you’re beautiful or not. It’s also how you carry yourself. Sa akin po, people should stop making a big thing out of the color of one’s skin because we’re all different,” she said.
