Yeng Constantino opens up about realizations following Siargao incident

Parang sabi niya, 'ang short ng life,' so parang gusto niya mag-marathon siya. First, nag-10 kilometer (run) siya sa UP [University of the Philippines] and then yesterday sa Mall of Asia tumakbo siya ng 21 kilometers, first time niya ever. So nakakatuwa naman to see him flourishing," she said during an intimate press event for her upcoming film with TBA Studios titled Write About Love.Admitting that she didn't expect the massive amount of backlash from the incident, Yeng Constantino explained her decision to go on a social media hiatus."It's my first time to be bashed that much, so na-culture shock ako. Pero sobrang hilig ko sa social media. After what happened to me, sobra akong na-homesick rin kasi nami-miss ko na ang social media pero I decided to stop for a while," she said.She went on: "Minsan kasi akala mo, kaya mo. Pero I just want to be honest kasi hindi ko pala kaya 'yun."Yeng, who experienced severe trauma from the social media backlash, revealed it came to a point where she would feel anxious just by seeing the YouTube logo."'Pag nakakakita ako ng YouTube logo, minsan kinakabahan ako e. Kinakabahan ako 'pag nakakakita ako ng Twitter logo. Sinabi ko 'yun sa psychologist sa Magandang Buhay. 'Alam niyo po 'pag nakakakita ako ng logo ng YouTube, Twitter at Facebook, kinakabahan ako.' Sabi niya, 'Maganda 'yan ginagawa mo na nagpapahinga ka, kasi nagulat ka e,'" she stated.Having recently marked her two-and-a-half month break from social media, Yeng shared her realizations from the one of the darkest moments of her life."Matagal na po ako sa industry. It's been 12 years and at times you feel like you're so strong. 'Pag isa-isang bash, wala kang reaction, pero 'pag dumating pala, parang, what? Bulto talaga, so parang hindi mo alam anong gagawin mo. So you're being vulnerable siguro. I really felt so sad and also shocked. Social media is really powerful," she said.Meanwhile, Yeng is expected to return to the big screen in Write About Love which also stars Rocco Nacino, Miles Ocampo, and Joem Bascon.As of writing, TBA Studios has yet to announce the official release date of the film.
