Even when she was in grade school, only child Elsa has always dreamt of meeting the perfect guy to love her. For her, the ultimate goal in life was to find that one perfect love. Fast forward to two decades later and a very grown up Elsa is surrounded by her friends who all have partners, and she still remains single. That’s premise of the Viva Films comedy, Jowable.
Kim Molina is hilarious as always as larger than life character Elsa who tries to ease her heartaches by drinking alcohol. But she is upstaged in scenes with more seasoned actresses like Kakai Bautista and Candice Pangilinan, who play her mother and a nun respectively.
Even though Elsa goes through the entire movie waiting for a man to fall in love with her, she almost seems unconcerned by the feelings of her friends and family who surround her with love and care everyday. Until an encounter with a mysterious stranger one rainy night turns her entire world upside down in more ways than one.
Even though Elsa's obsession with finding a "jowa" may look a bit extreme, people will always be able to relate to her need for validation, as well as to love and be loved in return. Audiences will enjoy going through Elsa's highs and crazy lows just like that ever silent but supportive friend who wants to be there until the very happy end.
Jowable is produced by Viva Films and will open in theaters nationwide starting September 25.
