EXCLUSIVE: Luis Hontiveros, ayaw gamitin ang family connections para sumikat sa showbiz

Luis Hontiveros started his modeling career at the age of 16 and it took him almost 10 years bago niya na penetrate ang showbiz at maging artista sa pelikula at telebisyon.“It’s been a long journey bago ako makarating sa showbiz. A lot of ups and downs, challenges and struggles, but it’s been worth it naman, so I’m very happy kung nasaan ako ngayon,” simulang kuwento ni Luis sa kanyang pinagdaanan sa exclusive interview ng PUSH.Malaking bahagi raw kung bakit nakapasok siya sa showbiz ay ina-attribute niya sa Pinoy Big Brother at sa pagiging former housemate niya.Pagtatapat ni Luis, “I’ve auditioned multiple times, actually 7 times including itong PBB Lucky 7 kung saan ako nakasali. So bale, six times akong nag-fail then on the seventh time do’n ako pumasa.“Pagkatapos ng PBB that’s where it all started. Nabigyan ako ng chance matutong umarte. Don ako nabigyan ng chance na makasama sa isang soap opera and from there tuluy-tuloy na.”Kahit nagsimula bilang modelo, ayon kay Luis ay ramdam niyang hindi raw talaga yon ang kanyang mundo.“Sa modeling, oo, I did well in the sense that I was having fun but I don’t think modeling was for me to build a career, so I sought after career in acting and thankfully naman, kahit papaano, slowly, I’m being able to achieve that day by day.“I’m not yet satisfied, but I’m content where I am right now. I still wanted to do more projects, teleserye, more films and hopefull more serious characters and roles – basically I want to grow more as an actor,” lahad ni Luis.First film ni Luis ang box-office hit na The Panti Sisters na kasali sa Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. Naging kontrabida na rin siya noon ng Mayward sa isang programa ng ABS-CBN.Si Luis ay pamangkin ni Senador Risa Hontiveros pero never daw niyang ginamit ang koneksyon nito para mapadali ang pagpasok sa showbiz.“I wanted to stay away from that fact because I want to make my own name for myself. Ayoko makikilala ako dahil pamangkin ako ni Risa Hontiveros, Pia Hontiveros, ayoko ng ganun. Gusto ko pong makilala from my own hard work.Ano pa ba ang ina-aspire niyang gawin ngayon bilang aktor?“I just want to be able to play a more serious roles, mga mas mahihirap na characters at makatrabaho pa yung ibang veteran actors, so I can go further.“I’m still doing workshops with Star Magic, asking for tips sa ibang veteran actors and their experiences which allows me to grow my knowledge with the craft,” huling pahayag ni Luis sa PUSH.
