A finalist of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” has publicly apologized for an offensive remark she made on Twitter about veteran composer Louie Ocampo, who is among the judges of the popular singing competition.
This past week, contender Shantal Cuizon found herself in hot water after writing “composer ka lang” in an apparent jab at Louie, who, being the head judge at the time, nearly had her eliminated following her performance last Friday.
Cuizon took the opportunity to publicly apologize after her shaky performance in the live episode of “It’s Showtime” last Saturday.
“Gusto ko pong mag-public apology kay sir Louie Ocampo. Thank you po kasi kahit ano po iyong nararamdaman ninyo [ay] hindi niyo pa rin ako gi-nong,” she said, adding that the “stress” and “pressure” of the competition got the better of her.
This, despite Louie not being present among the judging panel on Saturday.
Vice Ganda, one of the hosts of “It’s Showtime”, said that he himself was offended by Quizon, who, in addition to her “composer ka lang” tweet, also wrote “hustisya” after she felt that she was treated unfairly by the show. The comedian then reminded her: "Huwag ninyo sanang maramdaman na dinadaya kayo ng show na ito at may isang hurado na mandadaya sa inyo at magbibigay ng injustice."
For her part, Quizon acknowledged that she was in the wrong for letting her emotions get the best of her, adding: "Lahat po ng pagkakamali, aminin mo lang, kasi wala namang pagkakamali na naitatago, lahat kailangan aminin at [may] dapat matutunan."
In the end, she failed to advance to the grand finals after being bested by fellow contenders Julius Cawaling and Violeta Bayawa.
The “Tawag ng Tanghalan” grand finals is set to take place this September.
