Janine Tenoso reveals she has been joining singing competitions even during her younger days.
Janine Tenoso, who first appeared in the now-defunct VIVA Entertainment-produced singing competition Born To Be A Star, shared some advice for those aspiring to be professional singers.
According to the young singer, one should never stop chasing after their dreams because she believes that there are countless opportunities out there.
“Never stop kasi madaming opportunities na nagbubukas. All you have to do is just take it and take the risk and yeah, don’t miss the opportunity. As much as possible just do what you love to do and to continue doing that,” she said during an interview at the VIVACON 2019.
Tenoso, who has been joining competitions since she was a kid, recalled how she would join singing competitions at her school back in the day.
“Umm ako naman, uhh I’ve been joining competitions since I was a kid but the first ever TV competition that I enjoyed was when I was 17 and umm doon ako nadiscover ng VIVA so short lang ‘yung experience ko sa pagiging kontesera,” she said. “Wala akong barangay pero meron akong school. Ayan, school mahilig talaga,” she said.
Admitting that her music then didn’t sound like the one she’s pursuing right now, she revealed that her musical influences have changed through the years.
“First ever TV competition ko po is yung Born To Be A Star and doon ako na discover ng VIVA but then, nung nag sign ako sa VIVA, I changed yung influences ko sa music and how I sing also. I had to umm take out sound on my singing parents kasi same habits but yeah I’m grateful kasi it shaped me the way I am today because of that,” she added.
Janine revealed that a collaboration with fellow VIVA artist John Roa is in the works. But apart from the former Ex Batallion member, she also hopes to work with OPM band The Juans and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo in the future.
“We’re actually planning Jon Roa and I to compose a song together. Sana ma-push through and The Juans ‘cause they’re my favorite band since I joined VIVA and Sarah G ‘cause she can do anything,” she said.
