Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is not only known and admired for his public service but also his use of Filipino colloquial words which are often used by ordinary citizens.

He gained more attention when he used the words “tolongges,” “etneb,” “takwarents” and more terms during his interviews and this immediately became viral.

Dubbed as the ‘ISKOnaryo,’ he then explained the meaning of these words to ABS-CBN News.

The Filipino words are often interchanged and some call this “salitang kalye.” When asked as to why he still use these words he said, “At least na-express ko yung sarili ko kung sino ako talaga.”

“Kasi marami dyan politiko sasabihin ‘Para sa mahirap’ (...) bottomline nito, I really wanted to connect kasi that’s how we are going to understand each other,” he added.
