With her latest blockbuster film Hello, Love, Goodbye currently topping the box office, director Cathy Garcia-Molina admitted she did not have a problem working with her lead actor Alden Richards for the very first time. “Walang eksenang kailangan pigain ko si Alden. In the scenes naman na kailangan niya maging emotional, he knew what the emotion was. Yun lang ang maganda kasi sa isang tulad ni Alden who have been through so much already. I mean, hindi na naman ito ka-bagets-an na hindi niya alam pinagdaanan. And yung pinagdaanan ni Ethan is very familiar to him. Pag napanuod niyo, he is very relaxed in the movie. That’s what I loved about him there. Parang walang effort. He was so natural and sincere. And ganun lang talaga yung character ni Ethan,” she shared.
Alden said that it was actually direk Cathy who motivated him to get more into shape for his role as Kathryn Bernardo’s new leading man. Direk Cathy admitted she still had to motivate the actor in some scenes that required him to show some skin. “Ayaw niya talaga maghubad sabi niya nakakahiya. That is not the point of the scene and he understood.
More than knowing Alden’s capabilities as an actor, direk Cathy said she wanted to see him reach his full potential in the film and she is thankful that he was very cooperative to work with. Ang sabi ko lang sa kanya, ‘Huwag mo ako artehan and we’ll be good.’ Kasi I really cannot tolerate acting on my set. And that’s what he did. And he did wonderful,” she said.
