Actor Alden Richards credits director Cathy Garcia-Molina for inspiring him to get into shape.
With his first Star Cinema project Hello, Love, Goodbye reaching a blockbuster 250M during its opening weekend, Alden Richards said one of the sacrifices he made when he accepted the project was to lose weight on the advise of his director Cathy Garcia-Moline before shooting began. “Talagang siopao kasi yung mukha eh (laughs). So sa sobrang tagal ko na ring nagsasabi na mag-lu-lose ako ng weight, na pagagandahin ko na yung katawan ko, parang si direk lang talaga yung may karapatan magsabi sa akin nung mga oras na yun na mataba ako at kailangan ko mag-lose weight,” he shared.
Alden added another reason why he chose to get more into shape for the sake of his newest role as Ethan. “Para maiba na rin yung look. Kasi siyempre medyo halos iisa yung itsura ko mga huling projects na ginawa ko. Para ibang iba lang. Para maging totoong taga-Hong Kong,” he explained.
After shooting the film, director Cathy Garcia-Molina was vocal about wanting to work with him again, Alden sid he would be open to doing a sequel or other projects with other Kapamilya actresses. “Hindi ko lang alam kung kelan siya mag-ko-commence pero kung ako, I’m looking forward to it kasi ang daming lumalabas sa cinema, nababasa namin yung reviews na sana may part two. And with regards to working with other Kapamilya stars, I’m really looking forward also to working with Bea Alonzo. Parang masaya ako na andun siya sa premiere night to see the movie. Kabado din ako nun. Siguro kaya ako kinakabahan kasi ang daming Kapamilya stars na pumunta and Kapuso stars din as well. Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako na my first movie with Star Cinema is I can say a success with this now working with direk Cathy, with Kath and okay din yung opening day. So sana masundan.”
