With his film Mina-Anud opening in cinemas on August 21, Dennis Trillo said he is proud of his latest role as a surfer who gets involved in an unexpected cocaine trade in Samar which was based on real life events. Hindi naman natin siya maipagmamalaki pero makaka-relate yung mga tao dahil based on true event sand mostly facts yung pelikulang ito,” he shared during the Mina-Anud celebrity premiere held last August 19.

After tons of cocaine were discovered by a simple fishing community in Mina-Anud island in Samar, the townsfolk found their lives turned upside down by the appearance of the illegal substance.

For his wild party scenes with Jerald Napoles and Matteo Guidicelli in the film, Dennis shared how they were able to play drug-induced hallucinations convincingly. “Nag-research kami sa panunuod ng mga movies lalo na yung Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas with Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. Doon kung anu-anong klaseng drugs yung tinira nila so more or less may idea kami na kung ano yung reaction,” he admitted.

Aside from being a movie about drugs and surfing, Dennis said he hopes Pinoys will watch Mina-Anud to become more aware of real life occurrences in the country over the years.
