Davao singer-songwriter Joan Da marks her second time joining the Star Music's songwriting competition, Himig Handog 2019. Joan, together with her husband LJ Manzano, who co-wrote their song, shared that "Sasabihin Ko" is "very special" for them because this was originally her wedding vow.
"Lahat ng sinabi ko sa kantang 'to, lahat sinabi ko siya doon [sa wedding] mismo sa may arch," Joan told PUSH after the press conference last Thursday, August 15.
Joan is the same composer of Morisette's entry in 2017 titled "Naririnig Mo Ba." She said it gave her motivation to join the competition again.
"It's our second time. And, me and my husband are so overwhelmed kasi yung second time na 'yon napili pa rin.
"It's a promise of a woman to her man, na mamahalin siya whatever it takes, kahit lumiwanag man o dumilim, hindi magmamatter kung anong situation ang meron sila because love is still there," she explained.
Joan is just one of the four Himig Handog 2019 finalists, who were picked to interpret their own song. Eamarie, Alekzandra, and Davey Langit, also sang their own songs in this year's competition.
