Andi Eigenmann, who recently gave birth to her second child, has admitted to experiencing postpartum depression.

On Instagram, the 29-year-old actress said that she had focused so much on the “possibility of not bouncing back” physically after pregnancy, but recently came to the realization that “there are other aspects of being a new mom again” that she should've prepared for as well, such as prioritizing her emotional healing.

Being vocal about body and self love on social media before my last pregnancy, I had focused so much on preparing my mind to accept myself for the way I will look even after giving birth, and the possibility of not “bouncing back”. What i didnt realise is that there are also other aspects of being a new mom (again) that I may have needed to prepare my mind for as well. I neglected the part where emotional healing might be necessary too. I guess this is what post partum depression looks like to me. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Sleepless nights are getting the best of me. When the others are asleep I’d shed tears I’d normally save for my acting performances on tv show finales (lol). Ive been having so many thoughts of guilt. Ive been questioning every decision Ive made that led me here. I read so much about caring for a newborn and prepping to be a new mom again but I seemed to have ignored post partum depression. (I guess cus it didnt seem exciting.) But now I dont know much about it. Just hoping that the fact that Im aware of other moms going through this, and that i am acknowledging what this feeling may be, will hopefully be helpful. But now I don't know much about it. Just hoping that the fact that I'm aware of other moms going through this, and that I am acknowledging what this feeling may be, will hopefully be helpful.”

Andi then sought advice from her fellow mothers on ways to cope with postpartum depression, many of whom suggested that she “get some sun.”

In a separate post this Thursday, the Agua Bendita star excitedly shared that she and her family are headed back to their island home - Siargao - after two months of staying in Manila.

“‘Sunny days are coming!’, is what I have been telling myself whenever I feel ‘confused’ about where I’m at in life. I’m still sure of it. And I don't just mean actual sunlight, but brighter days in general. I do miss my old self. Myself, before having 2 kids. But not enough to regret the life I have now. I love where I’m at, even if it hasn’t been easy. That’s what keeps me going.”

I am kind of losing my mind raising 2 little children. But through this I found my soul. Its exhausting. but I love being needed by them, I love being there for them. So I am taking in and enjoying every bit of this stage of motherhood as much as I can. Because I know that time flies by quickly, and in a snap, they won’t be little anymore. 📷 @cocoonstudioph

Being vocal about body and self love on social media before my last pregnancy, I had focused so much on preparing my mind to accept myself for the way I will look even after giving birth, and the possibility of not “bouncing back”. What i didnt realise is that there are also other aspects of being a new mom (again) that I may have needed to prepare my mind for as well. I neglected the part where emotional healing might be necessary too. I guess this is what post partum depression looks like to me. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Sleepless nights are getting the best of me. When the others are asleep I’d shed tears I’d normally save for my acting performances on tv show finales (lol). Ive been having so many thoughts of guilt. Ive been questioning every decision Ive made that led me here. I read so much about caring for a newborn and prepping to be a new mom again but I seemed to have ignored post partum depression. (I guess cus it didnt seem exciting.) I am kind of losing my mind raising 2 little children. But through this I found my soul. Its exhausting. but I love being needed by them, I love being there for them. Being vocal about body and self love on social media before my last pregnancy, I had focused so much on preparing my mind to accept myself for the way I will look even after giving birth, and the possibility of not “bouncing back”. What i didnt realise is that there are also other aspects of being a new mom (again) that I may have needed to prepare my mind for as well. I neglected the part where emotional healing might be necessary too. I guess this is what post partum depression looks like to me. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Sleepless nights are getting the best of me. When the others are asleep I’d shed tears I’d normally save for my acting performances on tv show finales (lol). Ive been having so many thoughts of guilt. Ive been questioning every decision Ive made that led me here. I read so much about caring for a newborn and prepping to be a new mom again but I seemed to have ignored post partum depression. (I guess cus it didnt seem exciting.) But now I dont know much about it. Just hoping that the fact that Im aware of other moms going through this, and that i am acknowledging what this feeling may be, will hopefully be helpful. But I know there are other more helpful ways. Any advice would be much appreciated! X

Andi then sought advice from her fellow mothers on ways to cope with postpartum depression, many of whom suggested that she “get some sun.”

In a separate post this Thursday, the Agua Bendita star excitedly shared that she and her family are headed back to their island home - Siargao - after two months of staying in Manila.

Papa and I can’t wait to take you to your island home VERY SOON!! . SUNNY DAYS ARE COMING! From what Ive read in the comments of my previous post on coping with PPD one good tip is to get some sun! I really believe going back to the island will definitely be helpful not just for me but for all of us! Looking forward. Just 4 days to go and the 4 of us are off back home to paradise.🤗

I am kind of losing my mind raising 2 little children. But through this I found my soul. Its exhausting. but I love being needed by them, I love being there for them.
