Here are the reasons why Zephanie Maranan was the top choice on ‘Idol Philippines’
Zephanie Dimaranan became the first Idol Philippines winner, beating in the last round two strong contenders in the persons of Lucas Garcia and Lance Busa. Just how did she manage to cinch the title?
Her performance drew praises from judges Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Moira dela Torre, James Reid, and Vice Ganda.
Each judge explained what they found very impressive about her performance—from her voice to her gorgeous charm. Though they each gave different adjectives to commend her performance, the bottomline was her fantastic voice that sounded like already a pro and her stage presence that grow on us viewers.
Her song choice “Maghintay Ka Lamang” marks her long wait towards this triumph.
Zephanie’s choice to sing this underrated hit of Charice reflected the journey she made for a career she wants and for the passion she has. She experienced defeats in The Voice Kids and Tawag Ng Tanghalan but instead of wallowing in her initial failures, the then 14-year-old Laguna native persevered. She took to heart the comments from the previous shows’ judges on what she should do to improve her little vocal flaws. Finally, she delivered nothing less than sharply captivating performance on Finals Night for Idol Philippines.
Combine humble round eyes, long lustrous jet black hairm and café au lait skin and Zephanie had the look of a winner. Her attractive physical attributes belied the combined strength and confidence the 16-year old lass showed instantly once she appeared on stage on Finals Night.
She is getting over 3,000,000 views and likes on social media.
Barely two days after becoming the first Idol Philippines, netizens were still in awe of how flawless her vocal delivery was—her curls and lilts did not falter. The crossing from low to high tones and back were accurate.
Looking like an “Artista”
Admitting to the press that her toughest competitor was “myself po,” it only means Zephanie had already triumphed against her past self. Vice Ganda once told her, “Ikaw iyung dapat idolohin ng mga kabataan,” telling her she has been through a lot but she did not stop pursuing her dreams. Vice further sealed the deal, adding, “Ikaw ang idol ng Pilipinas.” Viewers and votes couldn’t agree more.
