Anne Curtis is back on the big screen with the upcoming VIVA Films offering Just A Stranger, opposite young actor Marco Gumabao.

When it was first released, teasers from the movie created an online buzz because of the intimate scenes between its main stars. During the movie’s grand press conference on Wednesday, July 31, Anne shared her excitement about doing a sexy drama once again.

According to Anne, she felt no pressure as she found the story beautiful. “More than anything, when I got the script, and I read it, parang there was no pressure naman because it was going to be sexy. More of excited because it was a beautiful story. It’s not just based on the sexiness of the film, it’s actually such a beautiful story,” she told members of the press.

As the film features a May-December love affair, both Marco and Anne described how it felt to be working with each other, specifically in their intimate scenes.

Marco, for his part, shared how privileged and happy he felt when he learned that he will be paired with Anne. He also admitted that he felt nervous doing the love scenes as it was his first time. He then acknowledged Anne and their director, Jason Paul, for taking care and for making him feel comfortable.

As for Anne, she recalled discussing the blockings. “We really spoke about it… Sa eksena mismo pagdating doon sa Portugal. As in may blockings na nagaganap kasi siyempre bago eh. Usually kasi, medyo you have freedom to act it out pero bilang “neophyte” nga siya, we really had to block it, ano ‘yung gagawin. So we really guided him kasi it was his first time to do an intimate scene like that.” They said that they also talked about the emotions required of each scene.

Nonetheless, the actress thinks that Marco did “extremely well” and shared how she found it helpful that Direk Jason Paul was able to guide them through the process.

Meanwhile, Anne was also asked about the reaction of her husband, foodie and online personality Erwan Heussaff about her latest film. Last month, Erwan playfully commented on Anne’s Instagram post of a steamy photo of her and Marco, which was a teaser of their movie poster.

“Si Erwan is very open about my work. He’s not strict or anything. But I felt, when I received the script, should I ask permission? Not necessarily ‘coz he understands my work completely. But, I did let him read the script. Just out of respect, I guess, just to see what he would say. And he found a beautifully written script by Direk Jason Paul (Laxamana).”

Later, she was asked if she plans to have Erwan see the movie, to which she replied, “Oo kasi he read the script already naman. He won’t go to the premiere night. He doesn’t usually go like he didn’t go to Sid & Aya also, but he watches it on a regular screening.”

“Ayaw niya [ng premiere nights] kasi daw [‘yung reaksyon ng mga tao] yes. Parang if there’s a kissing scene. Kasi he went to the one of Blood Ransom, which is the indie film that I did in the States. And medyo ‘yung mga intimate scenes ko ‘dun, malala. So lahat ng tao, tumitingin daw talaga sa kanya so he got awkward with that. He doesn’t like that feeling so he’d rather not and just go to a regular screening,” Anne added.

Produced by VIVA Films, Just A Stranger opens on August 21, 2019 in cinemas nationwide.
