Maja Salvador is thrilled for her teleserye comeback over a year since the success of her revenge drama Wildflower.
In an interview with the press on the sidelines of her promotional shoot for her upcoming series The Killer Bride, the 30-year-old actress said she’s grateful to her home network for trusting her with yet another huge project.
So, very excited ako,” she added.
Here, Maja will play the lead character of Camilla, whose ghost will seek revenge through Emma, a mortuary makeup artist (Janella Salvador), after apparently getting killed on the day of her wedding to a scion of a rival family, Vito (Geoff Eigenmann).
The series marks her reunion with Geoff 10 years since they last worked together in the film Villa Estrella. In the same year, the two were supposed to do a teleserye together, Moon River, only for the project to get shelved eventually.
“Yes, mayroon kaming teleserye dati na hindi natuloy, tapos nag-‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ kami before pero ito talaga ‘yung kapag oras niyo maging magkapareha, oras niyo talaga. So, ito ‘yung perfect time para sa pagpapareha naming dalawa,” she said, adding that she’s “very comfortable” working with the actor given their long-term friendship.
On getting to share the screen with Janella and Joshua Garcia (who will portray the character of Elias, Emma’s love interest in the story), whom she refers to as “young superstars” of the industry, Maja said, “Syempre kay Joshua, nakapagaling na aktor din. Then, kay Janella, na parehas kaming Salvador. Very excited ako kay Janella dahil parang ito ‘yung time niya naman na mag-shine kasi maganda ‘yung role, maganda ‘yung tatakbuhin nung kwento niya.”
That The Killer Bride holds the same expectations as the epic show that is Wildflower is not lost on Maja, who confessed to feeling pressure when she was offered the role of Camilla.
Sobrang nacha-challenge ako kay Camilla dela Torre,” she added.
Though it remains to be seen, The Killer Bride, which is said to follow a gothic theme with a mix of suspense, is rooted in love, according to the lead star.
Maglalaro pa rin doon, siyempre,” she said.
Directed by Dado Lumibao, The Killer Bride is set to premiere this August. It stars Eddie Gutierrez, Aurora Sevilla, Lara Quigaman, Ara Arida, James Blanco, Sam Concepcion, Cris Villanueva, Jobelle Salvador, Dominic Ochoa, Alexa Ilacad, Loren Burgos, Pamu Pamorada, Malou de Guzman, Pepe Herrera, Eric Nicolas, Keanna Reeves, and Neil Coleta.
ON WEDDING RUMORS
Prior to shooting her new teleserye, Maja left for Europe to spend a week-long vacation together with her boyfriend, businessman Rambo Nuñez, and his family.
“Sobrang na-enjoy ko kasi this time naman, kasama ‘yung family ni Rambo,” she said.
It could be recalled that the particular trip sparked rumors that the couple got engaged just several months since getting back together – thanks to Rambo’s friends who teased him about finally popping the question to his girlfriend on Instagram.
However, when asked during the interview, Maja was quick to laugh off the speculation.
“Patay siya kay Killer Bride,” she said, before turning serious to say that she’s “super happy” with how her life is going right now.
