The news was buzzing when confirmation came out about John Lloyd Cruz making a return after his showbiz hiatus, so much so when photos of him and Bea Alonzo in Palawan made their rounds.
At the Skechers Performance Run 2019 press con, the media eagerly asked Bea’s beau, Gerald Anderson, what he can say about the reunion.
“Matagal ko nang alam ‘yun!” he remarked.
Contrary to what people may think, Gerald is actually a supporter of the JLC-Bea tandem. Even before he entered show business, he was already a willing audience of the love team.
“Hindi ko sila kilala pero napanood ko sila sa TV. Hindi ko pa sila kilala, hindi ko alam na ganoon kalaking artista sila. Crush ko si Bea noon e,” the actor explained.
In fact, the first Filipino movie he ever watched was Now That I Have You, a JLC-Bea flick.
“14 years old ako noon,” he recalled. “Takbo kami sa sinehan, nag-tricycle pa kami papunta sa mall. Kumain kami ng Jollibee kasi nanalo kami sa basketball, so may pambayad kami.”
From celebrity crush to his girlfriend of almost three years, Gerald is supportive of Bea’s career. He even encouraged her to pursue the idea of a comeback movie for the tandem.
This photo was taken back in 2010. Back when I fell in love with you for the first time. Amazing how time just flies. Can’t help but get a little sentimental especially because you’re spending your 30th bday in another continent in a different picture. You are a wonderful man. Happy birthday babe. You are my great love story. ❤️ @andersongeraldjr
“Sabi ko nga e, dapat gumawa na kayo ng pelikula. Doon kayo nakilala talaga, ‘yung love team ninyo. Maraming nakaka-miss sa inyo. Sobrang refreshing, ‘di ba?” he remarked.
Though their friendship isn’t what he would consider a close one, Gerald only has the best of wishes for his colleague.
“Si John Lloyd, sobrang na-miss natin sa mga movies niya. I think lahat naman kami (sa showbiz industry) really look up to him and Piolo sa pagiging artista. It’s good to see him back. Sana tuloy-tuloy at bumalik na siya,” the ABS-CBN network star said.
