Mga Batang Poz actor Mark Neumann said it was only recently that he learned that sex education is not taught in schools in Philippines. During an interview with the press for his iWant advocacy series, Mark talked about how it gave him 'advantage' or 'benefit' growing up.
"First of all you're aware when something like that (sex) exists when you're a child. Kasi what happens sometimes kasi if walang alam ang bata, baka masangkot pa siya sa masamang pangyayari or something," Mark told the press.
The 25-year old actor, who spent his grade school in Germany, believed that proper education will lessen the curiosity of young minds in the topic like sex.
"It does give a benefit. Of course some parents don't want their children to know—at a young age, about what sex is. Pero there's also advantage about it. We have to keep that in mind, if may alam sila there's also less curiosity. Cause they already know they're guided," he continued.
In Mga Batang Poz, Mark plays the role of Gab who is one of the four young HIV-positive characters in the story. The advocacy series is an adaptation of a young adult novel with the same title. It aims to shed light on PLHIV (people living with HIV) who suffer from social acceptance and stigma.
"Very proud ako to this project kasi its not really about the project itself na may trabaho [ako] or exposure, no. It's an honor to be part of an advocacy, to be educating and guiding people to clear things up tungkol sa stigma pagdating sa mga patients living with HIV," said Mark.
Mga Batang Poz can be streamed for free on iWant.
In other news, Mark also revealed that he's already been planning an engagement with non-showbiz girlfriend of four years. "Of course. I'm just getting the papers ready," according to Mark pertaining to his legal papers in Germany.
