Sam Mangubat is set to perform together with various artists at the One Paradise: Puno ng Musika at the La Mesa Eco Park on July 27. In an interview with PUSH, Sam shared that he chose to join the event because he believes in its cause.
“This is a tree-planting gig actually para ma-preserve ang La Mesa Watershed because ‘yung information na nakuha ko ‘yung La Mesa Watershed is the only forest na mine-maintain niya ‘yung buong Kamaynilaan so it is really important na maging aware. I actually accepted the invitation to perform because it is really a good cause. There will be tree-planting gigs and music performances of different artists,” Sam said.
He added, “The cause itself made me say yes kasi nga grabe actually ‘yung naging experience ko pa lang na mawalan ng tubig sa Maynila kasi kakalipat ko lang dito sa Maynila is sobrang parang na-awaken ako na grabe na pala talagang pinupuntahan ng mother nature natin so we have to even, kahit sa mga kaunting way, let us be responsible na makatulong man lang sa nature.”
Meanwhile, Sam is still on cloud nine after bagging the Male Artist of the Year award at the MOR Music Awards 2019. The singer extended his gratitude to those who are supporting his career.
“Sa totoo lang hindi ako makapaniwala kasi medyo low ang self-esteem ko. Hindi ako nag-i-expect ng mga ganon na makakakuha ng ganong klaseng award sa current career state ko but I am really happy for the strong support from fans na nilalaban ako at binoboto ako at ‘yung effort nila, grabe hindi ko ini-expect na meron pala akong ganoong impact. I am very happy and I am taking it as a very big push para ituloy ‘yung music ko at ginagawa ko para makapag-inspire ako,” he stated.
On what fans should expect from his next, Sam relayed that he is going to release an album soon.
