Jane De Leon was in tears as ABS-CBN bosses told her she is officially the next Darna.
Star Cinema released a video of Jane De Leon in disbelief as ABS-CBN bosses confirmed she was the one chosen to portray the role of Darna.
De Leon thought it was just a simple callback. But little did she know that the executives of the Kapamilya network have already picked as her the next actress who will play the Pinay superheroine on the big screen.
Asked about her commitment to the project, De Leon said: "100 percent po talaga. I can surrender all for her, for that character po. 'Yung desire pati 'yung heart ko po talaga nandu'n po talaga kay Darna."
ABS-CBN Films Managing Director Olivia Lamasan then revealed to her the big announcement and asked her if she's ready to take on the role.
"And then finally, we made the decision to give it to somebody. So are you ready for the responsibility, Jane? Tinatanggap mo na ba ang bato?"
After the announcement, each of the ABS-CBN bosses hugged her and gave her words of encouragement.
Also present during the announcement were ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio, Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and Star Creatives COO Malou Santos.
"Today is the beginning of the rest of your life. Ingatan mo," Charo Santos said.
Meanwhile, Cory Vidanes stated: "Be happy and stay committed."
"Congratulations. You deserve it. Stay focused," Malou Santos added.
Lamasan, on her part, reminded her how big of a responsibility it is to take on the role of the Pinoy supeheroine.
"Ang laking responsibilidad n'yan ah, anak ha," Santos added.
Towards the end of the video, De Leon, still on cloud nine, asked in excitement: "Hindi pa po nagsisink-in. Totoo po ba 'to?"
Vidanes, reassuring her she's not dreaming, said: "Totoong-totoo."
