Sharon Cuneta will not be returning as coach in the upcoming fourth season of hit singing competition The Voice Kids.
The Megastar, who appeared in the last season of The Voice Kids and debut season of The Voice Teens, made this announcement in her response to a fan who asked about her absence from the confirmed coaches – Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga – this past week.
“I cannot stand the stress kasi,” she said. “I became so attached to the kids and it weighs heavily on my heart ‘pag kailangan na mag-eliminate. Noong May ko pa sinabi kay Mr. M ‘yon.”
“Mr. M” is Jonny Manahan, the man behind ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic and director of The Voice franchise in the Philippines.
Her sentiment echoed that of the Popstar Royalty’s when the younger singer took a break from the show in 2016 due to the “pressures” of being a coach.
Along with The Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap, Sarah, Bamboo, and Lea were the original coaches of The Voice.
Meanwhile, auditions for The Voice Kids, which is open to performers aged 7 to 12, kicked off in May. Season 4 is scheduled to premiere on August 10.
