Marco Gumabao shares his acting inspirations for the role of Matteo Silverio.
As one of the hunky stars of the popular afternoon soap Los Bastardos, Marco Gumabao said his character is getting an even more interesting storyline in the series right now. “Ngayon yung character ko medyo nababaliw (laughs). Medyo masama, siya yung odd one out among the brothers. So it’s fun to do kasi first time kong mag-play ng kontrabida and I’m getting good feedback. Every role naman for me is mahirap pero I enjoy it so it’s fun for me. Sana tutukan pa rin ng mga tao yung panunuod. We have super high ratings now and we’re so thankful sa lahat ng mga nanunuod,” he said during the iFlix X Viva press launch event held last July 10 in BGC.
Marco admitted he got the inspiration for his character after watching Hollywood icons Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson on screen. During the iFlix event, the 24-year-old actor said he is happy with the new arrangement between the streaming site and his management. “It’s a good partnership and I’m sure madaming mga movies na maipapalabas ang Viva with iFlix. It’s exciting and ako kasi mahilig din talaga ako mag-stream at manuod so at least we have another platform where we can watch more movies,” he said.
At home, Marco revealed his older siblings have already moved out. “Both of my sisters are in the States. I live with my mom and my younger sister na lang kasi si Michelle may sariling place na. My dad is fine. He’s good. He’s very healthy,” he said.
Marco said he goes out on dates but is not in any relationship at the moment. “Wala pa rin. Focus muna ako sa work. Siyempre I date pero walang girlfriend. As much as possible I try to stay away from (taga-showbiz). Whenever I date someone or may girlfriend ako, gusto ko private. Ayokong nalalaman ng tao kasi once you go public medyo ang daming mangingialam, yun. So as much as possible I keep it to myself,” he explained.
