Co-produced by iWant and Dreamscape Digital, the six-part online series Mga Batang Poz starring Awra Briguela, Mark Neumann, Fino Herrera, and Paolo Gumabao released its first trailer.

Inspired by a young adult novel of the same name written by Segundo Matias Jr., the trailer shows four teenagers named Enzo Gab, Chuchay, and Luis who start a support group under their alter egos online after acquiring HIV or human immunodeficiency virus.

Palanca-winning author Segundo Matias, at a contract signing event last January, said it's more than just about raising awareness to the youth.

“This book is not just about HIV awareness; it’s about hope. Even if you have HIV, you won’t die, you may continue to live and dream as long as you get tested and get proper treatment. Your only enemy is the stigma. The message of the novel is: life goes on," he stated.

Meanwhile, director Chris Martinez discussed some of the things viewers can learn from the series.

"Yes, it has sex and a very daring theme, but kung titignan niyo siya ng malapitan, ito ay kuwento ng pangkabataan," he said in a presscon held last March.

"Hindi tayo mananakot dito, bubuwagin natin ang mga taboo, bubuwagin natin ang mga stigma. Hindi ito pananakot, ito ay actually pagbuwag sa takot ng mga tao tungkol sa usapin ng HIV," he added.

According to the digital series' description on YouTube, Mga Batang Poz, which refers to kids living with HIV in Filipino slang, is an advocacy series that aims "to celebrate life amidst all the pain for there is love from family and friends."

Mga Batang Poz streams on iWant on July 26.
