Ed Sheeran confirmed his marriage to Cherry Seaborn the same day he released his new album Collaborations No. 6.
More than a year and a half since announcing to the public his engagement to his longtime sweetheart Cherry Seaborn, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran confirmed he is now officially married.
In February of 2019, several British media outlets reported that the "Shape Of You" hitmaker has already tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend in an intimate wedding ceremony attended by some of their closest family and friends December of last year.
“Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet — just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest,” the paper reported. “He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them — just a tiny winter wedding … Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it," The Sun wrote in a report.
But the 28-year-old singer-songwriter neither confirmed nor denied any of those reports until recently when he graced an interview with iHeartRadio host Charlamagne tha God the same day he released his star-studded album Collaborations No. 6.
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” said Ed Sheeran in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel after getting asked about the lyrics of his song "Remember The Name" featuring Eminem and 50 Cent.
Apparently, one of the lead singles from his latest album, a collaboration with Justin Bieber called "I Don't Care," also referenced his marriage to Cherry Seaborn.
“Bieber just got married. I’d just got married,” he explained. “That song is about being at an industry event with the woman you love, or the person you love, and kind of being like, ‘F— this, let’s just have fun ourselves.’
He then went on: “It was actually Cherry’s idea, because she was like, ‘Oh, why don’t you get Bieber? Like, he’d be perfect for this … it just fits.’”
