Last Thursday, June 6, teen comedian Awra Briguela faced backlash from Blackpink fans following a series of jokes he made during the popular South Korean group's Manila fan meet.

According to fans on Twitter, Awra, along with AC Bonifacio and Riva Quenery, made fun of Jennie, who was feeling unwell at that time, for showing signs of weakness at the event.

Now, the actor has taken to Instagram to speak up on the controversial incident for the first time.

Clearing out that fans may have misinterpreted some of the gestures he made during the controversial fan meet, he wrote: “Gusto ko lang din po sana klaurihin ang lahat.

Awra likewise told fans that it was never his intention to disrespect Jennie, citing his proficiency in the English language as the reason for having been misinterpreted by fans.

Awra, who called Blackpink fans sensitive and shallow for the way they reacted to his jokes, then went on to ask fans to stop judging him for his whole being based on a single mistake he has done.

God bless."
