Ian Veneracion on being part of the zombie movie ‘Block Z’: ‘It’s legit talaga’

It’s been almost two years since we last saw him weeknights on primetime as the dashing Anton Noble in the 2017 hit series A Love to Last but Ian Veneracion admits he is enjoying not being on television daily right now. “When you’re doing a movie naman it’s not everyday like a teleserye. With teleserye, wala kang magagawa talaga na iba. Pero with movies I can do concerts kahit sabay sabay. Like I can do rehearsals for this and then may days naman na shooting na okay lang, kaya ng schedule. I’m doing a movie right now Block Z with Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto and it’s about zombies. It’s something to look forward to,” he told PUSH.

As part of the cast of Mikhail Red’s much anticipated new film, Ian said he already has a lot of admiration for the young director. "We’re not even halfway. Working with direk Mikhail is really good. I saw Birdshot which I really liked. He’s so well organized and when I read the script ang ganda. Tapos it’s not your typical masabi lang na merong zombie movie. They had to audition so many applicants as zombies and may workshops, may iba ibang levels of infection, merong iba ibang waves. Sobrang organized ang galing. It’s legit talaga. Na puwede pang international na ilalabas. Kasi merong Train to Busan ang Korea, tayo wala pang ganun so we’re hoping na ito yun,” he said.

This year, Ian is focusing on his singing career. He started it off with a concert tour in Canada last month and he is now preparing to stage another solo concert after having a successful show in Cebu City last year.
