Patch Magtanong was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International 2019.
Beauty queen-lawyer Bea “Patch” Magtanong wowed the public when she passed the Bar exam and won the Bb. Pilipinas International title this year and she admitted that it was not easy.
During her interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda, Patch was asked if she thought of backing out of joining the pageant.
“I knew in my heart that I was going to join, but there was doubt because I’m sure you can imagine Tito Boy [Abunda] how difficult it is to not pass the bar exam and imagine how much more difficult if you’re a public figure,” she shared.
One quote motivated Patch to try again in case she did not pass the bar exam. She was then asked if she wanted the crown more or passing the exam.
“During that time I wanted the crown more,” she said, saying the most difficult part of joining the pageant was gaining her “self confidence.”
“I wasn’t a pageant girl, it was my very first pageant. In the course of three months I think on coronation night I’ve gathered enough experience and wisdom to stand there and really own it,” Patch said.
Patch was discovered when she was just 17 years old but admitted that she was “awkward” back then that’s why it took her more time before she finally decided to join. Asked about how she juggled studying and training for the crown, she said that she was distracted.
“I was distracted po but it’s another thing if people expect so much from you. It wasn’t only what I could deliver, I needed to meet everyone’s expectations,” she said.
Patch will soon represent the Philippines in the Miss International pageant to be held in Japan.
