To those who only remember them as a love team in the hit afternoon show Los Bastardos, celebrity couple Jake Cuenca and Kylie Verzosa’s history actually goes a few years back.
On Sunday, the 31-year-old actor gave their fans a refresher as he shared on Instagram a photo of him and Kylie from 2017, the same year their first project together, superhero film Ang Panday, premiered.
Also included in the group shot were fellow stars Coco Martin, Mariel de Leon, and Awra Briguela.
“‘Yung panahon na hindi ka pa crush ng crush mo. Mabuti na lang nagpagupit na ako,” joked Jake, who at the time was still sporting a long hair.
Based on Carlo J. Caparas’ comic book about a man whose life is turned upside down when he realizes his bloodline is destined to save humanity, the millennial reboot of Ang Panday starred Jake as Antonio Domingo, also known as Lizardo, the archenemy of the film’s titular character Flavio Batungbakal III, who is portrayed by Coco.
Kylie, on the other hand, was casted to play as the other leading lady of Flavio.
The film was released as one of the entries to the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December 2017.
Just last Thursday, Jake openly talked about his apparent romance with the beauty queen during an interview on late night talk show Tonight With Boy Abunda.
“This is the most mature I've ever been. And for me, I'm going to my best to deserve her every day," he said.
“I'm going to do my best to take care of her and make her happy,” he added.
