FAREWELL MANOY: Celebrities show outpouring of love after news of Eddie Garcia’s passing

After an accident on the set last June 8, screen legend Eddie Garcia finally passed away at 4:55 pm on Thursday, June 20. The 90-year-old actor was shooting an outdoor scene for his new soap on GMA when he tripped on a wire and suffered a severe cervical fracture. Announcement of his passing was immediately met with an outpouring of posts from friends and people he had worked with in the industry in his more than half a century's worth of work. Eddie Garcia's legacy in showbiz can definitely be seen and felt in the many actors he has mentored, inspired, and worked with throughout his successful career.

Dearest Tito Eddie, we were never particularly close but you were one of the actors I really looked up to. I still remember seeing you for the first time when I was introduced in the show Kung Mawawala Ka and how your mere presence took my breath away. I have since admired you for your professionalism and passion for the craft. Whenever I see you I would always look forward to your disarming smile and charm that could sweep any woman off her feet. This was taken last year at the Cinemalaya press conference where you told me that you watched our show, State of the Art, and said the kindest things about me and the show. Thank you for being so generous with your words and spirit! I am so honored to have known you and I will forever be inspired by you. Rest In Peace and Love, Manoy. Maraming Salamat. 🙏🏽
