Eddie Garcia wished to be cremated and his ashes be scattered in Manila Bay.
An old interview of veteran actor Eddie Garcia resurfaced after the actor passed away yesterday, June 20.
In the interview, he shared with ABS-CBN News reporter Mario Dumaual that he had already planned about what he wanted to happen when he dies.
“Ako kasi, ‘pag namatay ako, wala nang makakaalam, e. Gusto ko from death bed, diretso sa crematorium. Pagkatapos, may kaibigan akong piloto, kukunin ‘yung ashes ko, ikakalat sa dagat sa Manila Bay. That’s it,” he shared.
He also said that for him, he does not want any obituaries.
“Para pagkahinanap mo ako for an interview. ‘One year kong hindi nagkita.’ Patay na!” he quipped.
“It’s not a joke. I already paid for my cremation,” he shared during his 2012 interview.
“Ayoko ng fanfare, e, tutal, gano’n lang ‘yan when you’re dead, nagkakagulo. After a year, kakalimutan ka na. So what’s the use? I don’t think it’s necessary. Nahihirapan pa ‘yung mga pupunta sa burol mo, ‘di ba?”
The family of Eddie has broken their silence with his passing and family spokesperson Dr. Tony Rebosa told ABS-CBN News that his longtime partner Lilibeth Romero is “quite composed, unlike the last few days. She knows that Tito Eddie is now at peace and there's no more pain."
Eddie’s stepson Rep. Mikee Romero of the 1-PACMAN party-list, said that the remains of Eddie were already transferred to the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig for cremation at 11 p.m. yesterday, June 20.
Eddie’s wake will also be at the Heritage Memorial Park at 9 a.m
