Over a week since his accident, veteran actor Eddie Garcia continues to be in critical condition, stated the latest medical report from Makati Medical Center where he remains under critical observation.
Early this week, news anchor MJ Marfori took to Twitter to release a copy of the hospital’s statement dated Wednesday, June 19.
“He remains dependent on the ventilator to breathe and medications to support his blood pressure. His latest electroencephalogram (EEG) study showed minimal brain activity,” they said.
“Visitors are strictly limited to prevent complications from occurring,” they added.
It was last June 8 when the former “Ang Probinsyano” star figured in an accident while taping for a show he was starring in. Initial reports stated that he suffered from a heart attack. However, the family has since clarified that Eddie tripped on a wire and sustained a neck injury before eventually slipping into a coma.
In an exclusive interview with PhilStar, Eddie’s partner of 33 years, Lilibeth Romero, said that Eddie’s last medical check-up prior to the incident confirmed that he was in the pink of health.
“His blood pressure and blood sugar were normal,” said Lillibeth, “And he even campaigned (for a party list) in last May 13 elections, staying under the oppressive sun for hours. I was with him, prepared with towels, drinks and sandwiches. So I was devastated when I saw that accident on the video clip. And it had to happen in line of work! I saw the video only once and I don’t want to see it again.
“I was told that the accident happened on the third shoot of the same scene from another angle. They should have checked the condition of the street and if cable wires were scattered all around,” she continued, adding that the incident was one “that could have been prevented”.
Meanwhile, former co-stars and personalities from the industry have since taken to social media to ask for prayers for Eddie’s fast recovery.
