Richard Quan bagged another Best Actor award mula sa European Philippines International Film Festival (EPIFF) held at Cinema Alfiere, Florence, Italy on May 19, 2019. Nanalo si Richard sa outstanding portrayal niya ng character ni Yoshiaka Moto, kaanib ng Iglesia Ni Cristo before the second world war in the film Kapayapaan sa Gitna ng Digmaan na prinodyus ng CEBSI Films.

Taong 1994 nung manalong Best New Movie Actor si Richard sa PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

“At first, it's a validation of my work. It gives me confidence as an actor. Pero experience told me that it’s more than personal, lalo na pag nakikita mo masaya ang ibang tao sa awards nakukuha mo-your co-worker, people from the industry, family, even people that I don't know personally.

“Nung manalo ako last year sa ToFarm, after 25 years, ang daming nag-personal message sa akin na sobrang happy sila that I won, that I finally won, and I appreciate that experience,” sagot ng multi-awarded actor sa tanong namin.

I realized in any recognition, it’s not and should not be about me. Kung ako lang makikinabang, nababawasan o nawawalan ng saysay ang awards.

“Dapat marami mapasaya at ma- inspire sa mga awards na nakukuha ko at yun ang mas importante.”

Eksklusibo ring ikinuwento ni Richard kung paano nagsimula ang interes niya sa pag-arte at ang kanyag journey sa showbiz.

“Yung acting for me at first is out of curiosity at something new na interesting, college student pa lang kasi ako nun. Then it became a passion nung 1994-2000.

Then it became a source of income na lang. Gradually, nawala yung passion, mga year 2000 to 2006 yon. That's when I decide to make a decision, kung mag QUIT na ba ako or ituloy ko pa.

“Pero at the end, I decided na ituloy na at ibalik yung passion. So mula noon until now (2007 to present) okey naman, so far so good,” kuwento ni Richard.

On a personal level, being an actor opens a lot of opportunities for me. I’m an introvert person, bihira ako mag attend ng showbiz gathering lalo na dati, kaya yung acting at mga character na ginagampanan ko ang nagiging emotional outlet ko. Plus it made me grow as a person and still makes me grow until now,” sagot niya sa PUSH.

In a broader sense, being an actor and acting gives me an opportunity to positively influence others. Aware ako sa responsibility ng celebrity sa public, and I’m trying my best na maging responsible.

I was even able to put up a foundation years ago (2002). Aside from so many things, these are the most fulfilling parts ng pagiging actor -- to be able to influence others towards a better future for all of us. Parang pang Miss Universe na sagot, di ba, pero with all sincerity, totoo yun,” seryosong pahayag ng magaling na aktor.
