Catriona Gray, a Christian, got questioned by a netizen for supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray recently took to Instagram to promote a Facebook live session with a local beer brand to talk about LGBTQIA+ in time for Pride month.
“Happy PRIDE ️ tune into @sanmiglightph facebook page to catch my #MahabahabangUsapan FB Live on all things LGBTQIA+ & Pride! I learnt soooooo much and hope in watching you will all too,” she wrote.
While several fans of the actress commended her for support for the LGBTQIA+ community, one netizen took it against her and deemed her advocacy contrary to her faith as a Christian.
“What happened @catriona_gray about your testimony about your Christianity? Please do not compromise,” the netizen wrote, questioning her support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
To which Catriona Gray responded: “My belief as a Christian does not limit me from fighting for the rights of others. I love my God and love my fellow brothers and sisters. Religion is never an excuse to hate, put down or act indifferent to the suffering of others. I believe God is love, and I will treat everyone—no matter who they are, to the best of my ability, with love.”
Meanwhile, several members of the LGBTQIA+ rallied behind Catriona Gray on social media for taking a stand and supporting the cause. See some of the netizens’ tweets below:<>

Being a true christian. Thanks Catriona Gray for this.— Yow (@j0w_sef) June 15, 2019
The problem with us people is we can have many interpretations of verses in the bible based on our motives, principles, norms and religion. Which by the way are founded by human beings and not by God. pic.twitter.com/UvEUk7g9Qy
Even before winning the Miss Universe crown, Catriona Gray has always been an avid supporter of Love Yourself Inc., a community volunteers supporting HIV counseling, testing, treatment, and life-coaching, among others.
