Gary Valenciano and his wife Angeli Pangilinan are extra grateful for the life of their son Gab Valenciano as the latter celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday, June 11.
Both took to social media to greet their secondborn with heartwarming letters. In his, Mr. Pure Energy reminded Gab of his unwavering love and wished for him a stronger faith in the face of life's setbacks.
He wrote, "There are somethings that I will never forget. These moments are a couple of them.
"Son, you’ve always told your mom and me that someday you’d like to take care of us so we won’t have to work as hard any longer. Just you being around Gab is more than enough. I pray that, more than anything else, you continue to grow deeper in your friendship with Jesus, and you rise in accomplishing all the good that He has set for you to accomplish."
"Your brain may take a beating at times. But taking a beating doesn’t mean you’re beaten. It just means you got wounded and hurt as you engaged and faced the challenges. It’s all part of what makes you come out a true winner. For a long as this heart continues to beat, I’ll be here for you, your brother, your sister, and your mom too. Happy birthday son. I love you," he added.
Angeli, for her part, is incredibly proud of how Gab was able to overcome his personal struggles over the years, including having to deal with depression during what he once called as the “darkest and most painful time” of his life.
She wrote, "Gab, my son, our miracle man is alive & today he celebrates 31 years of life.
"How does one mother a gifted genius who has struggled all his life with trying to find his own identity, being bashed because of his physical attributes which for many fall short of what is celebrity-friendly, being bullied because of his family name & simply having to try to prove himself again & again? How does one cope with someone who nearly died a number of times including admission of self-harm which very few knew about & we struggled to accept & deal with?
"His close friends & family members know that Gab is so full of love & generosity & loves Jesus with all his heart. Many take detours as he did & I praise God he’s back on track."
The doting mother also expressed her utmost gratitude for the fast recovery of his son after getting into a nearly fatal motorcyle racing accident in Batangas just a week ago. Gab was said to have acquired a sprained ankle and cervical sprain/spasms.
"He nearly died a week ago in a motorcycle race where another racer passed away & I praised God that my son’s life was spared. So today I thank my Lord for keeping him safe & allowing him another chance," wrote Angeli.
"After 6 days he was back dancing with his Papa and no one could believe he was able to do so. He picked himself up & danced in pain but showed the world that the show must go on. Happy birthday Gab. You make us, your family, so proud of you. We love you so much," she
Likewise, his two siblings, musician Paolo Valenciano and singer Kiana Valenciano, took the time to wish their brother a happy birthday on Instagram.
Gab celebrated his 31st birthday over a family dinner, in which the Valencianos were joined by Gab's non-showbiz girlfriend Joann Santiago and a few relatives.
