Joem Bascon admits he is excited to be reunited onscreen with his first leading lady.
After getting first major role in the film Batanes where he played Iza Calzado’s husband, Joem Bascon can’t believe he is being reunited with his first leading lady more than a decade later after it was announced he is now officially part of the cast of her upcoming movie Culion. “I’m happy kasi first ever film ko kasama ko rin si Iza Calzado for Batanes under Adolf Alix. Kami din magka-partner dun. And now I’m very happy to be working again with her again,” he told PUSH.
Aside from working on the much anticipated Judy Ann Santos series Starla, Joem said he looks forward to working with an exciting team which he had previously worked with in the film Double Twisting Double Back last year. “Ginagawa na namin yung Starla ngayon and then for Culion is with Iza Calzado and Meryll Soriano naman. Powerhouse tandem din behind the scenes kasi si Ricky Lee and director Alvin Yapan kasama dito. Binigyan na kami ng script,” he said.
Joem shared that the film aims to bring to light how life was in the former leprosarium and self-contained community found in Culion island in Palawan in the 1940s. Although he has not yet been able to visit the island, shooting is set to start next month inside the actual community where former patients lived. “Alam ko na merong leper colony pero hindi ko alam na meron siyang parang siyudad talaga na city. I thought it was just a hospital. Alam mo yun, the usual. Hindi ko alam na sobrang naging community na pala siya. It’s going to be a very realistic story,” he said.
