‘Lolo’ from famous fast food chain commercial passes away

Kids from the ‘90s were hit by nostalgia with news of Rudy Francisco, the old actor who portrayed Karen’s forgetful ‘lolo’ in the iconic McDonald’s commercial, having passed away on Wednesday, May 8.

Kids from the ‘90s were hit by nostalgia with news of Rudy Francisco, the old actor who portrayed Karen’s forgetful ‘lolo’ in the iconic McDonald’s commercial, having passed away on Wednesday, May 8. He was 96.

His son Raymond Francisco, also an actor, confirmed his death via Facebook. 

“You will forever be in our hearts, Dad. I love you,” he wrote.

Karen Delos Reyes, who played as Rudy’s granddaughter in the commercial, also took to social media to mourn his passing. 

“Sad day today. Rest in peace, Lolo Rudy Francisco,” she wrote. “My deepest condolences to your family.”

Rudy began his career in the early ‘50s as an actor for Sampaguita Pictures. He later quit to pursue law, but returned to serve as a lawyer for the production company for a long run of 40 years. 

He retired in 1997.
