As it turns out, Mark Anthony Fernandez has his own reasons for not giving Grae acting tips.
While Grae Fernandez has been in show business for quite some time now, it was only during recent months when he started getting big acting breaks including the iWant reboot of Spirits: Reawaken and Hiwaga Ng Kambat, which he shares with his love team partner Chantal Videla, and Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber.
Grae, who can now pull off some serious acting chops, got asked during the presscon for the Dreamscape Digital-produced show if he ever gets acting tips from his dad Mark Anthony Fernandez who happens to be an actor himself.
Revealing why his dad Mark Anthony doesn’t want to give advice when it comes to acting, he said: “Well actually ‘nung sinabi niya sa’kin, parang ayaw niya ako turuan ng ganun kasi baka magaya ko. Sabihin ng tao ginagaya ko siya. ‘Yung mga ginagawa ko sa pag-arte gagayahin ko siya,” the 17-year-old Kapamilya actor said.
“So gusto niya maging original ako sa sarili ko. Hanapin ko ‘yung sarili kong style. Hanapin ‘yung sarili kong path, which I think is great advice talaga na hanapin mo talaga ‘yung sarili mong opportunities at ‘yung sarili mong style at ‘yung path mo,” he added.
“Kasi kung hahanapin or titignan mo ‘yung style ng isang tao na nagawa na, ano pa ‘yung mabibigay mong bago? So ‘yun po ‘yung na-learn ko,” he concluded.
Hiwaga Ng Kambat airs every Sunday, replacing Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.
