Despite going through major heart surgery and getting diagnosed with cancer of the kidney a year ago, there’s no stopping Gary Valenciano from making sure he becomes as fit as he possibly can.

On Instagram, Gary Valenciano brought inspiration to his followers when he posted a video of himself lifting a barbell weighing 220 lbs or equivalent to 100 kg at a gym.

Mr. Pure Energy’s fitness coach, Chappy Callanta, commended him for being an inspiration to others.

"As far as inspiring people go. You can't go wrong with Mr. PURE ENERGY, @garyvalenciano. What a story of resilience, faith, and joy for life. Very timely indeed especially for myself. It's funny how we coaches are hired to train and 'help' our clients but in the end, they are the real blessing to our lives. Here we are going for 220 lbs on the trap bar, less than a year after some major medical procedures. Strong as ever. Thanks for inspiring us, Tito,” Callanta wrote.

But according to Gary Valenciano, he owes it to his coach who made it possible for him to give the best that he can in his shows.

“Thank you so much for those encouraging words. But @chappycallanta ...it’s the answer to my prayer of getting the right coach that makes workouts like this worth my while. Thank you also. I know your schedules are also tight. Thanks for being able to help get to my best for all the other shows I still have ahead of me,” the 53-year-old veteran singer stated.
