Pinoy singer Jej Vinson nearly fell short in his bid to win popular singing competition The Voice US after a tight battle among the Top 24 contestants last Monday, April 29 (US Time).

Despite his smooth rendition of Khalid and Normani's "Love Lies", Jej had to be saved by coach Kelly Clarkson as only one artist from their team, Rod Stokes, made it through the Top 13 via online voting.

Forced to pick between five contenders from Team Kelly, the singer chose Jej over Rebecca Howell, Matthew Johnson, Abby Kasch, and Presley Tennant to advance to the next round.

"Oh man, you guys, I just had no idea this was going to happen. I’m sorry y’all are here. I’m sorry I’m having to pick from practically my entire team but one person, so that makes it very difficult. I’m going to go with somebody that just really blew me away right at the blinds and every time I give some homework they go away and they come back even better. I’m going to have to go with this person. Please do not be sad, all the others. I’m going to go with Jej," she said.

Jej won against Team Adam Levine's LB Crew last week. He performed “Versace on the Floor” during the Cross Battles which earned him a spot in the Top 24.

The Pinoy singer was born and raised in Davao. He moved to the US when he was 15. His main goal as a singer is to spread Filipino talent in the international scene. "The Philippines is like, the land of the greatest singers, in my opinion, so I’m just really, really lucky and humbled to come from that kind of place. I want tp be a part of that movement that spreads it internationally so I’m just honored that I got to be one of those people," he said in a previous interview.
