On Twitter last Monday,April 29, the daughter of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano posted a screenshot of a string of comments recently sent to her by a basher regarding her music career.

"Kanta kanta forever starlet naman… Paki namin kung ikaw sulat songs mo. Di ka bagay artista. I just wanted you to know you will always be [a] starlet," the netizen said.

"When are you trolls going to realize that making music isn't about fame and hype and being an 'artista' to me," Kiana replied.

Referring to her fellow indie artists, she added, "You're sleeping on talented artists like Jason Dhakal, crwn, August Wahh, Rhxanders, B.P., Jessy Connelly (who is blowing up internationally and still not getting the local recognition she deserves) and sooooo many more because you're blinded by numbers and frilly."

Kiana entered the music biz in 2016 and has made a number of hits since then, including “Does She Know”, “Misfits”, and “Caught U” from her EP Grey. In February, she released her first full-length album See Me under Tarsier Records.
