When she’s not busy preparing for her upcoming May 16 concert at Resorts World Manila, Zsa Zsa Padilla said she can be found at a farm she and fiancé Conrad Onglao are developing all the way in Lucban, Quezon. “I first went there nung namatay yung sister-in-law ni Conrad so nagpunta kami ng lamay and then libing. Sabi ko, ‘Ang ganda dito. It’s so green and lush. Because it rains a lot (laughs).’ Ang summer sa Lucban is only one month. Ngayon tag-ulan na. Pero umiinit pa rin. Umiinit pa rin pero umuulan na,” she shared during the Totally Zsa Zsa concert presscon held last April 9 in Pasay City.

Zsa Zsa admitted she has always dreamed of owning her own farm where she can eventually retire in the future. “Noon ko pa gusto magka-farm when I started showbiz. Ganun talaga most artists. They will say, ‘We want to have a farm. We want the farm life. We want to be close to the earth.’ Even Conrad. That’s why we’re one with this. Kumbaga nagkakaisa kami na we want something like this na pag weekends. Siyempre sa umpisa weekends lang then eventually it’s a place that you feel you’ll be comfortable in when you retire, ganyan. You have to think about these things, ‘di ba?” she explained.

As of the moment, Zsa Zsa said they cannot invite guests over because their house is still being built on the property. “Wala pa kasi siyang bahay. Actually the land naman is not expensive in the province in that area. But to develop it is another story (laughs). Gagawa pa lang kami ng mga raised bed. We started building the farm last year. Kasi we also got another one na farm lang. So Esperanza farm and Casa Esperanza. So that you will know where the houses are. I’ve been posting photos of the time that we spend on the farm. So walang ayos tapos my favorite outfit is t-shirt, maong, and boots. And sometimes because it rains a lot in Lucban, I wear a rain jacket. Yun lang and I enjoy so much. Hindi pa ako nag-ga-gardening actually,” she said.

Zsa Zsa said she is stilll developing her green thumb unlike her soon-to-be husband and daughter Zia. “When I was young, I remember nabigyan ako ng rosal. Nung namulaklak siya, tuwang-tuwa ako talaga. Iba yung feeling. And my mother really loves plants. She even knows the scientific names of flowers. So probably I got it from her also. Tapos si Conrad sobrang hilig, alam pa yung mga pangalan talaga. I’m learning pa lang. I’m learning names of plants. Si Conrad kasi and I we buy a lot of produce from abroad. Tina-try namin kung mag-po-produce dito and we’re very happy that we got some bulbs from Japan. Amarillos, nag-bubloom na siya. So we’re trying out what we can grow here.  Zia also has a green thumb. Grabe yun. Kahit saan siya tumira may tomatoes siya, may sili, kung anu-ano. Mahilig siya talaga. And she understands plants. Parang si Conrad. Silang dalawa. Ako natututo pa lang ako,” she added.

Eventually, Zsa Zsa said they plan to expand the farm into a bed and breakfast. “Mag-uumpisa lang kami para sa amin. Pati bigas para sa amin, mga gulay para sa amin. And then eventually, pag ready na yung lugar, pero matagal pa yun, we want to open it to the public. Maganda kasi yung farm to table so we want to have yung mga fresh salads,” she said.
