Darren Criss has a message for our country's leaders about waste management.
Filipino-American actor Darren Criss showcased once again how close his heart is to his Filipino roots after lending a hand to a waste management program in Manila recently. The actor flew to Manila after his vacation in Palawan to join a group of Filipinos who are tasked in segregating waste products in the city.
"So let’s talk about waste management. Yeah, I know, it’s not a very sexy topic- but that’s exactly why it’s such a massive issue in so many parts of the world. So I decided to take a trip to the Philippines, a country close to my heart, with my friends from @glblctzn to learn specifically about Metro Manila’s waste and sustainability challenges," he posted on his Instagram account.
Darren said that he met a lot of people who shared the same goal as he did in creating a sustainable future during his visit. "I met a lot of inspiring people who have made incredible strides towards creating a cleaner, greener, future, but the obstacles they face are still overwhelming," he said.
He called on Filipino leaders to take steps in managing waste well in the county. "I’m urging mayors in the Philippines to implement zero waste programs in their cities in partnership with their communities," he stated.
