A film by Jason Paul Laxamana, ‘Bakwit Boys’ tells the story of four brothers (Nikko Natividad, Ryle Santiago, Vance Larena, and Mackie Empuerto) who are forced to flee their home after it was devastated by a super typhoon. They struggle to bring music back into their lives, until a city girl (Devon Serron) discovers their talent and decides that she will help them succeed.

The musical has won a number of recognitions since it was first launched in August 2018. ‘Bakwit Boys’ was awarded the Audience Choice Awards by the PPP last year, followed by a Natatanging Pelikulang Pampamilya Award by the Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students (GEMS) Hiyas ng Sining Awards in January. It was also nominated for two other categories, Best Independent Film and Best Director for Direk Jason, by the same award-giving body.
