After getting married last December, Iza Calzado said things can only keep getting better and better with her and husband Ben Wintle even after celebrating their first Valentine’s day together as a married couple. “Same, same guy that I’ve been with for quite some time. It’s just I think a little more settled, just a little more peace. He says I’m nicer to him now (laughs). We’ll see how far that lasts. Hindi joke lang ha. For Valentine’s, wala, we celebrated it at my friend’s house. Birthday niya eh. Well he did give me roses. I was so surprised. I was like, ‘Oh, you bought into it,” she shared during the WWF Earth Hour #Connect2Earth media launch held last February 28 in Mandaluyong City.

As an WWF (World Wildlife Fund) celebrity ambassador, Iza takes her advocacy very seriously, even bringing it into their home life. “Well we’re trying our best. Even during our wedding we tried to give away eco-friendly products to the best of our abilities,” she said. Even though they have yet to go on a honeymoon, Iza said it was not a conscious decision on their part. “It’s like there’s no chance. Hindi ko pa alam (if it’s happening this year). Sana. It’s about scheduling. It’s like I actually could have gone on a honeymoon but Ben is very busy because we’re growing Booky (the app) and it’s hard because. Ang sabi ko nga, we’re going on vacation for Easter but with the family so it’s still a family vacation, it’s not a honeymoon. But it’s okay. When the time is right it will happen. Hopefully this year,” she explained.

Iza said she wants to go on a honeymoon in a totally new place. “My dream kasi when I think of honeymoon, it’s a place I’ve never been to or that both of us have ideally have never been to. He’s traveled kasi more than I have. So parang ideally it’s a place that we or I have never been to na talagang nasa top ng list of places I really want to explore,” she added.

Iza along with fellow WWF ambassadors Rovilson Fernandez and Janine Gutierrez invite everyone to join this year’s Earth Hour event happening on March 30, Saturday at the Globe Circuit Events Grounds in Makati from 5 pm to 10 pm. Visit www.earthhour.org to know more details about the event.
