Marco Gumabao talks about his latest film and why he doesn’t want a sexy image.
As part of the cast of the HOOQ Originals and Viva Films project Ulan, Marco Gumabao said he couldn’t wait to see the film for the first time during the Ulan red carpet premiere last March 12. “We’re excited and at the same time we’re really happy na natapos namin itong movie na ito and parang we’ve been doing this since last year pa so nakakatuwa na it’s done and it’s finally here. Mapapanuod na namin lahat ng pinaghirapan namin and we’re so happy for direk Irene (Villamor) and for Nadz (Lustre) na tuloy na tuloy na itong movie na ito,” he shared.
Marco plays one of Nadine Lustre’s three leading men in the movie which is about one woman’s journey to self-discovery. “Yung character ko dito si Andrew, you’ll see him sa first part of the movie. Pero ang pinakatumatak sa akin na scene dito siguro is yung scene na unang pagkita ni Maya (Nadine) and ni Andrew and also yung tennis scene medyo nakakatawa kasi yun,” he said.
As one of the sexiest hunks in showbiz today, Marco said his current physique does not mean he will be taking the daring route in showbiz this year. “Hindi po (laughs). Ayoko pa. Hanggang brief lang ako sa Bench (fashion show), dun lang. Actually kahit sa mga movies man or sa teleserye, hindi rin naman ako naghuhubad totally kasi ayaw rin ng manager ko, ng Viva na ipakita ko lahat. Which is also nice para may abangan rin naman yung ibang tao sayo. Kasi if you show everything, wala na nakita na nila yung buong pagkatao mo di ba? As much as possible, yung pagsusuot ko ng brief, it’s exclusively for Bench. For me, if it’s not good for the project or if it’s not good for you, bakit ka maghuhubad or magpapakita ng skin? It has to come with a nice project, a good concept bago ka mag-isip. Like itong Los Bastardos, it’s the best na para magpakita. Pero sa taping namin hindi kami parati nakahubad. Kasi yun yung iniisip ng tao eh. Na pag sa taping yung mga Los Bastardos lagi yan nakahubad pero hindi talaga (laughs). Sa mga promo promo lang,” he explained.
