As the world celebrates the Chinese New Year today, February 5, many local celebrities took to social media to honor the tradition by greeting their followers a “kung hei fat choi," including Filipino-Chinese actress Kim Chiu and daughter of Megastar KC Concepcion, who revealed that she’s, in fact, part Chinese.“Happy Year of the Pig! Wishing everyone a prosperous year ahead!,” said Kim, who celebrated the Chinese New Year with a sumptuous dinner with the Chiu clan. “May this year bring us courage and wisdom, and may we explore every joy of life! Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!”Meanwhile, KC shared that it was through a DNA test in the US that she recently found out about the facts of her cultural identity. “So I recently found out from a DNA test in the States that I’m 10% Chinese. As Filipinos, history shows that a lot of us have ancestors not only from Spain, Portugal or the Iberian countries but also from Taiwan,” she said.
