“I remember thinking the whole evening how beautiful and sophisticated she was, very much like a real-life Barbie doll,” wrote Lucy Torres-Gomez of her fondest memory with her favorite supermodel.
There was a time when model and congresswoman Lucy Torres, together with her husband Richard Gomez, was lucky enough to chance upon her favorite supermodel, the legendary Cindy Crawford, in an event for watch giant Omega held in Crans-Montana, Switzerland as newly weds many years ago.
As an avid fan, of course, Lucy made sure she would document such fateful day through a photo op, which, fortunately, Cindy was kind enough to allow.
“This photograph was taken during an Omega event in Crans Montana and Cindy Crawford, who was (and still is) ambassador of the brand, was there along with other world-famous celebrities,” shared Lucy on Instagram last Saturday. “We were on the first leg of our honeymoon, Richard and I, and I was so starstruck that evening to finally see my favorite supermodel in the flesh, this beautiful woman who I only saw in magazines I loved to collect.”
Cindy, who hails from Illinois, US, started to work as a model at 17 and later pursued a full-time career in New York where she would become one of the most sought-after supermodels for
runways, magazine covers, and fashion campaigns in no time. Her daugter, 17-year-old Kaia Gerber, has set out to continue her legacy in the industry.
“I asked Richard to be the one to please request permission for us to have a photograph with her. She was very gracious about it,” continued Lucy. “I remember thinking the whole evening how beautiful and sophisticated she was, very much like a real-life Barbie doll.”
Expectedly, the surprising throwback earned the best reactions from Lucy’s followers, including news anchor Karen Davila, who’s a self-confessed “ultimate Cindy Crawford fan”.
“OMG, I am so inggit. I am the ultimate Cindy Crawford fan. Collected all her covers even her very first ever Vogue, Lucy,” said Karen.
