The British band will be joined by ‘American Idol’ runner-up and Grammy-nominee Adam Lambert.
The Academy on Monday, February 18, confirmed that ‘70s British band Queen will perform at this year’s Oscars.
Filling in for the late front man Freddie Mercury is American Idol runner-up and Grammy-nominee Adam Lambert, who has previously collaborated with the rock band for the Queen + Adam Lambert worldwide tour beginning in 2011.
Meanwhile, Bohemian Rhapsody, an award-winning 2018 biopic inspired by Queen, is up for five nominations at the Oscars this year – namely, Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Actor for Rami Malek as Freddie.
Other confirmed performers for the prestigious awards night are fellow nominees Jennifer Hudson, who will sing ‘I'll Fight’ from RBG, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings for ‘When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings’ from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga for ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born.
The 91st Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 24 (US Time) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
