Miss Universe 1999 first-runner up Miriam Quiambao and her husband Ardy Roberto welcomed their baby boy on Saturday night.
Beauty queen Miriam Quiambao and her non-showbiz husband, Ardy Roberto, have welcomed their baby boy Elijah Saturday night.
A joyous Ardy took to Instagram to share that Miriam has given birth to a healthy baby boy following an emergency C-section, similar to what they had expected just a few weeks ago.
“Welcome to the world, Elijah! Thanks for your prayers! Everything went well with the emergency CS tonight. Had a great team led [email protected], so blessed and overwhelmed by God's goodness!
More to come...,” he said.
“Have to take care of my wifey now as she recovers from the procedure. Pls continue to pray for her.. Baby's fine and was a model breast feeder. 🙂 God is soooo good!,” he added.
The Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up has been expecting her labor since having her Doppler test on Monday night.
“I went for an ultrasound/doppler test last night. It turns out that my cervix is at 1cm already and 0.99cm short at only 34 weeks!,” she said on Instagram previously. “Dr. decided to admit me right away and they hooked me up to a fetal monitor.”
Ardy, who earlier disclosed that Miriam might be giving birth prematurely, said that the doctors have tried to prolong the delivery so as to assure that their baby’s lungs were stable for labor.
“Don’t know when delivery is — can be anytime within the next few days or in a week or two sana... But good news is that prayers have been answered and contractions have stopped for now,” he said. “There is also no more ‘brain sparing’ so that means baby Elijah is getting the oxygen, blood, and nutrients that his brain and body needs.”
Miriam announced her miracle pregnancy in August last year by sharing a snap of her sonogram on Instagram.
It is revealed that the couple, who will be celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary this March, almost resorted to adopting or conceiving through in vitro fertilization (IVF) to have a child.
“Thanking God for the miracle of life and for answering our prayers,” she said. “Praise God who is the author of miracles and the creator of life! By His grace, He rewarded our faith with the greatest gift: a baby conceived naturally!”
