Bela Padilla doesn’t believe that streaming sites are a threat to the movie industry.
Along with her work as writer and co-producer of Dreamscape Digital’s Valentine movie Apple of My Eye, Bela Padilla also has her hands full working on the upcoming new Kapamilya series Mea Culpa with Jodi Sta. Maria and Tony Labursca. But the multi-talented actress said she loves both writing and acting in equal parts. Unlike other writers, Bela said she is open to her script getting revised. “From the start, sinabi ko kay direk (James Mayo) na paglaruan niya talaga. Wala naman,” she shared.
During the Apple of My Eye media conference, Bela shared her opinion regarding the notion that the local film industry is in a dire situation with the proliferation of new streaming platforms. So I don’t think this will be harmful. And I don’t think din we’re in a dire situation because we are releasing good films. Maraming sunod sunod. Hirap lang talaga mag-predict kng ano yung kikita or hindi. Hindi mo talaga ma-pe-predict,” she explained.
For Valentine’s Day, Bela said she’s already got her day planned out. “Kasama ko sila direk Joyce (Bernal) sa Valentine’s Day. Mag-po-poetry reading daw kami. Sabi, ‘Maghanda ka ng mga poems.’ Sabi ko, ‘Para saan?’ Yun lang, poetry reading. Yun yung mga trip namin this year I guess (laughs),” she said.
