Beauty queen Miriam Quiambao and her non-showbiz husband Ardy Roberto were in disbelief when they found out that they’ve successfully conceived after four years of trying to get pregnant.
In August, the couple took social media by storm with their announcement that their longtime wish to create a family has finally come true.
The couple, who will be celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary this March, has revealed almost resorting to adopting or conceiving through in vitro fertilization (IVF) to have a child.
"Thanking God for the miracle of life and for answering our prayers,” the Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up said. “Praise God who is the author of miracles and the creator of life! By His grace, He rewarded our faith with the greatest gift: a baby conceived naturally!”
However, it was later revealed that the miracle pregnancy poses inevitable difficulties for Miriam and their soon-to-be baby.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Ardy said that there is a possibility that his wife will give birth prematurely through an emergency C-section so as to protect their child.
Quoting Miriam, he said, “The Perinatologist says my placenta is still thickened and getting ‘older’ and calcified. This means that it’s getting harder and further obstructing blood flow of nutrition and oxygen of the baby. As a result, the baby is still small for his age, and is about two weeks behind in terms of growth.”
If this progresses, there’s a chance that the 43-year-old star might give birth to a preemie.
Nevertheless, the couple remains hopeful for a safe and easy labor for the next coming months.
“Please pray that he lasts until full term or at least 37-38 weeks upon delivery and that the Lord will create a miracle and sustain my baby Elijah without any damage until he is born. Thank you so much for your prayers!”
